Suwayda residents hold solidarity stand with Alawite protests on Syrian coast

SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – Residents of the city of Suwayda, southern Syria, organized on Wednesday a solidarity stands in support of the recent protests that erupted in areas along the Syrian coast and in the countryside of Homs.

Activists in Suwayda told North Press that the gathering comes as “a continuation of the movement that has been ongoing for more than two years.”

They added that the participation of Suwayda residents aims to express solidarity with “our Alawite brothers on the coast.”

The activists also criticized the accusations directed at civilians in the coastal areas, saying that “what is happening now resembles the treatment protesters faced during the early years of demonstrations in the country.”
