Three children killed by war remnants in Deir ez-Zor

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Three children lost their lives on Wednesday after a war remnant exploded in a residential neighborhood of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

Local sources confirmed that the children were playing when the device detonated, causing fatal injuries. They were immediately transferred to hospital, but medical staff announced their deaths shortly after arrival.

War remnants continue to pose a deadly threat across Syria, particularly in areas that witnessed heavy fighting or military presence in past years. Dozens of civilians, most of them children, fall victim each month to unexploded ordnance scattered in urban neighborhoods and agricultural lands.

Residents of Deir ez-Zor expressed deep concern following the incident, urging authorities and humanitarian organizations to intensify efforts to clear mines and explosive remnants of war. “These devices are everywhere, and our children are at risk every day,” one resident said.
