Lebanese authorities and NES Autonomous Administration discuss Hawl and Roj Camps
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – For the second consecutive day, representatives from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) held talks with Lebanese security officials, focusing on several issues of mutual concern, a representative told North Press on Friday.
Abdulsalam Ahmad, the AANES representative in Lebanon, said the meetings primarily addressed the case of Lebanese women detained in al-Hawl and Roj camps in northeastern Syria. “Mechanisms for transferring them to the Lebanese government were discussed within appropriate legal and humanitarian frameworks,” Ahmad explained.
He added that the discussions also included broader security issues of common interest, particularly in light of increasing activity by terrorist groups in the region. Both sides exchanged views on ways to enhance cooperation and coordination to address shared security challenges.
Ahmad noted that the delegation included representatives from both the SDF and the Autonomous Administration, and that the meetings took place on Thursday and Friday with Lebanese security authorities.
The discussions reflect ongoing efforts by AANES and the SDF to coordinate with regional partners on humanitarian and security issues, including the management of foreign nationals detained in camps and counterterrorism cooperation.
