Syrian Internal Security Seizes weapons depot in Damascus countryside
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Directorate in the Damascus countryside announced on Thursday the seizure of a weapons depot located inside an abandoned house in the city of Maadimiyet al-Sham.
A source from the Internal Security Directorate told state-linked media that the stockpile of arms belonged to the Liwa al-Fath faction, part of local opposition forces in Maadimiyet al-Sham, also known as Maadimiyet al-Shuhada.
The source added that the weapons had been hidden since 2016, with the stated purpose of “defending civilians against threats from the former regime.” No details were provided regarding the exact quantity or type of weapons discovered during the operation.
