Israeli forces release 5 Syrians hours after detention in Syria’s Quneitra
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – The Israeli army released on Friday evening five Syrian young men, hours after detaining them near the village of Saida al-Golan, south of Quneitra in southern Syria, local sources reported.
Earlier that day, Israeli forces had arrested the five individuals in an area west of the village of Saida al-Hanout, in the southern countryside of Quneitra, near the Yarmouk Valley bordering the occupied Golan Heights.
According to The New Arab news website, a local source said Israeli forces first detained three young men from Saida al-Golan before arresting two more shortly afterward. All five were released several hours later. The source described the incident as part of a recurring pattern of brief detentions by Israeli forces in the area.
The same source added that the detainees were subjected to physical mistreatment during their arrest and called on human rights organizations to document and investigate such violations.
In a related development, the source reported that an Israeli military patrol consisting of around eight vehicles carrying soldiers infiltrated the towns of al-Asha and al-Rafid in southern Quneitra early Saturday morning.
Another Israeli patrol also entered the towns of al-Samdaniyah al-Sharqiya and al-Ajraf on Friday, though no additional details were available regarding the nature of these incursions.
