Turkmen girl raped and killed in al-Hawl Camp today
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A confirmed source in al-Hawl Camp reported on Thursday that a 14-year-old Turkmen girl was raped and killed in the migrants’ section of the camp on Wednesday, October 8.
The source told North Press that the victim, identified as Fatima Abdullah, suffered sexual assault, torture, and strangulation before her death, according to a forensic report. Female residents in the section reported the incident following its discovery.
Al-Hawl Camp remains home to tens of thousands of displaced persons, including families linked to ISIS. Despite international calls for repatriation, the camp continues to host a large number of residents under difficult conditions.
Camp authorities confirmed an investigation is underway and said security measures have been increased following the incident.
