SDF says Syrian government violated ceasefire in Aleppo countryside

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported on Thursday that Syrian government forces targeted two of its positions near Tishrin Dam and Tel Siratel in Aleppo countryside, in what the SDF described as a breach of the ceasefire agreement.

In an official statement published on its website, the SDF said, “In a new escalation and violation of the ceasefire, armed groups affiliated with the Damascus government targeted Tel Siratel and the surroundings of Tishrin Dam with heavy artillery at 5:30 p.m. today, Thursday, October 9.”

The statement added that the shelling originated from positions near the city of Manbij. Earlier, the SDF reported it had foiled an infiltration attempt by elements of the Syrian Ministry of Defense at one of its military points in the Tishrin Dam area east of Aleppo.

The Tishrin Dam region is a strategic location along the Euphrates River and has been a point of recurring tension. The area is under the security control of the SDF, which maintains checkpoints and patrols to secure the zone and ensure safe passage along the river.

Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect, SDF has stressed its continued commitment to stability and maintaining the agreement while calling for all parties to adhere to the terms.
