SDF foils infiltration attempt by Syrian government forces near Tishrin Dam

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Thursday that their fighters had thwarted an infiltration attempt by forces of the Syrian transitional government near one of their military positions in the Tishrin Dam in the countryside of Aleppo, northwestern Syria.

In an official statement, the SDF said, “A group of gunmen belonging to the Damascus government attempted to infiltrate one of our positions in the countryside of the Tishreen Dam area, using hand grenades in an effort to target our fighters and destabilize the region.”

According to the statement, SDF units immediately responded to the assault, leading to direct clashes that resulted in the death of one attacker, while the rest of the group retreated.

The SDF stressed that its forces had exercised their legitimate right to self-defense in responding to the attack, reaffirming their commitment to protecting the local population and preserving regional stability.

For its part, the Syrian Ministry of Defense accused the SDF of targeting their positions near the Tishrin Dam, claiming that the attack had killed one soldier and injured others.
