Seven injured in explosion in Damascus countryside
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Seven people were injured on Wednesday evening following an explosion at the Sabina silos in the countryside of Damascus, Syrian state media reported.
The state-run SANA news agency said that “Civil Defense teams rescued seven injured individuals from under the rubble caused by the explosion at Sabina silos and transferred them to al-Mujtahid and al-Salam hospitals in Damascus.”
The Syrian state television channel al-Ikhbariya reported that “an unknown explosion occurred in the mills area of the town of Sabina in Damascus countryside,” adding that investigations are underway to determine the cause.
Local sources told North Press that the explosion took place inside an industrial oxygen plant in the area, prompting Civil Defense and ambulance teams to rush to the scene to evacuate the wounded and extinguish fires that broke out following the blast.
As of the time of reporting, no official statement has been issued by government authorities regarding the cause of the incident.
