SDF foils ISIS plot, captures 3 militants in eastern Deir ez-Zor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Wednesday the successful capture of a three-member ISIS cell in the village of Takihi, located in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Following intensive surveillance of the individuals’ movements, the SDF launched a targeted operation, establishing a secure perimeter around their hideout, the SDF said in a statement.
The SDF added that its forces captured the cell members without any casualties or injuries.
During the operation, weapons and documents linking the captured individuals to ISIS were seized, further confirming their involvement in planning terrorist acts that posed a threat to the lives of local civilians.
The SDF indicated that the cell members were preparing to carry out terrorist attacks targeting the security and stability of the area.
In the statement, the SDF reiterated its commitment to pursuing ISIS remnants and sleeper cells, emphasizing that the forces remain vigilant in preventing any attempts by the terror group to destabilize the region.
The SDF stressed that they will continue their national and humanitarian duty to protect the people of northeastern Syria and preserve the hard-won gains of the region’s residents.
