Potential Coalition drone strike kills former jihadist in Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A drone, likely belonging to the U.S.-led Global Coalition, targeted on Sunday a former jihadist at a residential house located between the towns of al-Tamanah and Khan Shaykhun in the southern countryside of Idlib, northwestern Syria, a government source told North Press.
The source said that the strike killed Hisham al-Raslan, a former jihadist and member of Jund al-Aqsa armed group, instantly.
Activists reported that al-Raslan had previously worked with the Jund al-Aqsa faction but had withdrawn from the group following internal clashes and had been living quietly at his home.
The government source did not provide details regarding the reasons behind the targeting or information about the individual struck.
As of the time of publication, no official statement from the government had been issued regarding the incident.
