ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Aleppo announced on Monday that they successfully repelled an attack by Syrian government troops on one of their checkpoints in the area surrounding Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods.

Earlier, clashes broke out in the Sheihan area near Ashrafieh between Asayish forces and government troops, resulting in injuries among government fighters.

In an official statement, Asayish said, “In the framework of the right to self-defense, our Internal Security Forces repelled an attack earlier today, Monday, September 22, by rogue units affiliated with the Ministry of Defense in Damascus on one of our security points near Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.”

The statement added that the counterattack resulted in the death of one attacker and injuries to three others. Additionally, an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) used in the assault was shot down by Asayish forces.
