SDF reaffirms fight against ISIS, reports 153 attacks in Northeastern Syria
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reiterated on Monday their commitment to combating the Islamic State (ISIS) in a statement issued in Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
“With the active participation of the International Coalition, have waged one of the most complex battles of our time against terrorism,” the SDF said in a statement.
The SDF warned that ISIS continues to exploit instability in several Syrian regions in an attempt to reorganize its ranks.
According to the statement, ISIS cells carried out 153 attacks in northeastern Syria between Dec. 8, 2024, and Sep. 20, 2025.
This frequency shows “evidence of its ongoing efforts to reorganize and expand operations,” the SDF added.
In response, the SDF, in coordination with the U.S.-led Global Coalition, carried out 70 security operations, including three large-scale sweep operations.
During these, 95 ISIS members were arrested, including three senior leaders, while six others—two of them leaders—were killed. Large quantities of weapons, ammunition, and identification documents were also seized.
The SDF acknowledged heavy losses, reporting the death of 30 of its fighters and injuries to 12 others during the same period. Additionally, six civilians were killed in ISIS attacks.
The statement underscored that since the 2019 Battle of Baghuz, ISIS has transformed from a “state organization” into a decentralized network of sleeper cells, relying increasingly on local attacks, targeted assassinations, and covert recruitment.
The SDF stressed that the ISIS threat remains serious and called for sustained international cooperation, logistical support, and development projects to counter extremist ideology and strengthen stability in the region.
