Government security forces arrest 5 arms, drug dealers in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Security forces of the Syrian transitional government arrested on Monday five drug and arms dealers during operations in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A security source told North Press that a patrol raided the village of al-Heri, east of Deir ez-Zor, and apprehended Kamal al-Jughaifi, described as one of the most prominent arms dealers in the region.
The source said security forces arrested al-Jughaifi and two of his associates after more than 30 minutes of clashes.
In a separate raid, a patrol stormed a house in the town of al-Mayadin that was being used for drug trafficking and smuggling outside Deir ez-Zor.
Two individuals, including Basel al-Mismar, were arrested in the operation. Security forces also seized narcotics and large quantities of captagon pills at the site, the source added.
