Israeli forces conduct incursion into Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces conducted on Sunday a military incursion into the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Daraa, southern Syria, accompanied by intensive drone flights over the region, local sources reported.
A source told North Press that the operation involved four vehicles and dozens of Israeli soldiers advancing into the western countryside of Daraa.
This marks the second Israeli incursion in two days, following a similar patrol in the same area on Saturday.
Israeli patrols reportedly operate from Siriya al-Jazeera, a military post established after the collapse of Syrian government control under Bashar al-Assad in the Yarmouk Basin. Including the Golan Heights, the area has been of strategic interest to Israel, leading to increased military presence and operations.
Siriya al-Jazeera is part of a broader Israeli strategy to entrench its military presence in southern Syria, particularly in the Golan Heights region.
The latest activity follows earlier Israeli strikes in the region, including an attack on the town of Kuwaya in March, which killed five people, including a woman, and injured several others.
