Israeli army sets up temporary checkpoint in Syria’s Quneitra
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – The Israeli army erected on Saturday a temporary checkpoint along the road leading to the town of al-Samdaniyah al-Sharqiyah in the central countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria, where soldiers inspected vehicles and verified the identities of passersby.
A local source told North Press that the checkpoint was set up unexpectedly at the western entrance of the town. Israeli soldiers stopped several civilian cars and requested passengers’ identification cards.
The source added that soldiers carried out detailed searches of the vehicles and cross-checked the passengers’ information before allowing them to proceed.
In recent months, areas near the ceasefire line in the occupied Golan Heights have witnessed increased Israeli security measures, including intensified patrols and the deployment of mobile checkpoints.
These measures have fueled concerns among local residents about heightened restrictions and uncertainty in the area.
