SDF fighter dies of injuries after armed attack in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) died on Friday from wounds sustained after being shot two days earlier by unidentified gunmen in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source from the SDF in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that Youssef Annad al-Hamd, 29, succumbed to injuries he sustained when two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on him near the main road in the town of Baghuz.
Earlier the same day, the SDF announced the death of one of its fighters and the injury of others in a separate attack carried out by Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells in western Deir ez-Zor countryside.
The source added that al-Hamd was struck by three bullets and transferred to Hajin Hospital for treatment but later died of his wounds.
He noted that the fighter was on leave at the time of the attack.
