Asayish arrest 11 ISIS suspects in al-Hawl Camp security operation
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) announced on Saturday the arrest of 11 individuals accused of belonging to the Islamic State (ISIS) at the conclusion of a security operation in al-Hawl Camp, northeast Syria.
The operation, launched on Friday under the name “Humanity and Security,” involved Asayish and the Women’s Internal Security Force, alongside units from the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), with support from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the international coalition. It specifically targeted active ISIS cells operating within the camp.
In a statement, Asayish said, “During the operation, active terrorist networks within the camp were dismantled, and eleven individuals linked to ISIS were arrested.” The statement added that multiple attempts to target humanitarian and service facilities in the camp were also thwarted.
The security forces emphasized that specialized night raids destroyed dangerous sites used by militants planning attacks against the forces and restricted the movement of ISIS cells in and around the camp.
The statement highlighted that the operation strengthened coordination with humanitarian organizations, ensuring the continuation of their work safely while providing a more stable environment for camp residents.
Participating forces noted that the backing of the SDF and the international coalition significantly contributed to the achievements of the campaign.
