Intensified security operations reported in Latakia, Hama Countryside
LATAKIA, Syria (North Press) – Local sources informed North Press on Saturday that the Internal Security Forces launched a security campaign in Jableh and the al-Ghab Plain, targeting remnants of the former regime. Several individuals were reportedly detained during the operation
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Interior announced the start of a security campaign in Tartus Governorate, targeting what it described as “hideouts belonging to outlawed terrorist cells involved in carrying out attacks against Internal Security Forces and their positions.”
According to the sources, areas in Jableh and al-Ghab countryside in Hama have seen heightened security measures, accompanied by military reinforcements deployed by General Security units. The move came after information surfaced regarding suspected movements of former regime elements in those areas.
The sources added that Nahr al-Bared village in Hama countryside has effectively turned into a heavily monitored checkpoint, where identity documents are being strictly inspected, particularly for individuals holding reconciliation cards.
They noted that some cases of detention were recorded at these checkpoints by General Security personnel. The security campaign remains ongoing as of Saturday evening, according to the same sources.
