Israeli Media: Syria and Israel agree on majority of security provisions

DAMASCUS, Syria ( North Press) – The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported on Friday that the course of negotiations between Syria and Israel has made significant progress regarding the signing of a security agreement between the two states, with some points of disagreement remaining between the two parties.

Last Tuesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani met, in the French capital Paris, with an Israeli delegation to discuss a number of files related to southern Syria.

The corporation said, quoting unnamed Syrian sources, that approximately 80% of the security axes have been agreed upon, with some points of disagreement remaining, most notably Israel’s request to keep its forces in several strategic locations inside Syrian territories, including the radar station on Mount Sheikh and a main hill in Quneitra.

Israeli media outlets have been leading, over the past hours, with reports attributed to senior Syrian officials indicating that the two states may sign a security agreement under American sponsorship on the upcoming September 25, after the speech of the first legitimate President at the United Nations General Assembly.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation revealed, quoting the same sources, that Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shaara has appointed a new delegate for Syria in the United Nations, to lead negotiations with the Israeli and American sides in preparation for an anticipated historic meeting at the end of September in Washington.
