Asayish say gunmen attacked center in Deir ez-Zor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Sunday that one of their centers in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, came under armed attack by unidentified gunmen, though no casualties were reported.
In a statement published on their official website, the Asayish said, “At exactly 8:30 PM on Sunday, two individuals on a motorcycle opened fire on our center in the town of Diban.”
The statement added that Asayish members returned fire, forcing the attackers to flee, and confirmed that none of their personnel were injured.
Earlier in August, a military source close to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) told North Press that unknown gunmen had targeted both the home of an SDF leader and an Asayish checkpoint in the Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside.
