SDF frees 4 fighters abducted by suspected ISIS cell in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced late Friday that the Deir ez-Zor Military Council had successfully freed four of its fighters who were abducted by a cell suspected of belonging to the Islamic State (ISIS) in Deir ez-Zor, countryside, eastern Syria.

According to the statement, the fighters were kidnapped on Aug. 14 while visiting a health center in the town of Gharanij, east of Deir ez-Zor, for medical treatment outside their official duties.

The SDF affirmed that security operations in the area are ongoing until all members of the ISIS-linked cell are tracked down and eliminated.
