SDF holds government responsible for attacks in Syria’s Manbij
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Monday that factions affiliated with the Syrian transitional government launched an attack on its positions in the countryside of Manbij, northern Syria.
The SDF held the Syrian government fully responsible for the escalation.
In an official statement, the SDF said, “Factions affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government launched an attack on four of our positions in the village of Al-Imam, located in the Deir Hafer area.”
The statement added that SDF units responded accordingly, engaging the attackers in a confrontation that lasted approximately 20 minutes.
The SDF described the incident as “a deliberate escalation and poses a serious threat to the stability of the region.”
“We hold the Damascus government fully responsible for this behavior, and reaffirm that our forces are now more prepared than ever to exercise their legitimate right to respond with full force and determination.”
The statement follows an earlier SDF announcement on Sunday, in which it stated it had exercised its right to self-defense in response to attacks originating from areas around the village of al-Kiyariya in the Manbij countryside. The Syrian Ministry of Defense had previously accused the SDF of targeting that area.
