Aid convoy from NE Syria reaches Damascus, awaits clearance for Suwayda
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A humanitarian aid convoy organized by Mesopotamia, a local civil association, arrived on Saturday in Damascus, marking the first step in a relief effort aimed at supporting the crisis-hit population in Suwayda, southern Syria.
A representative of the Mesopotamia Association told North Press that the convoy includes approximately 55 tons of food supplies and flour, donated by residents of northeastern Syria to assist communities impacted by the recent violence in Suwayda.
“The aid is currently awaiting final approval from the Syrian transitional government to proceed toward Suwayda, where it will be distributed to affected families once official coordination and logistical arrangements are completed,” the source said.
In recent days, widespread grassroots donation campaigns have been held across northern and eastern Syria in response to humanitarian appeals for the people of Suwayda, who continue to endure the consequences of the latest wave of instability in the governorate.
