Asayish arrest ISIS members in operation in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Wednesday that they conducted a counterterrorism operation targeting ISIS cells in the Shaddadi region in the south of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
In an official statement, Asayish said that the General Security Directorate, with support from the Special Forces Unit (HAT), carried out a “precise security operation” at dawn on Wednesday, July 30, in the al-Hamar area of Shaddadi.
The operation targeted hideouts used by ISIS operatives active in the area.
According to the statement, three members of the terrorist group were arrested. The suspects were reportedly involved in acts of intimidation against local residents as well as attacks on security personnel.
During the raids, security forces seized a cache of weapons and equipment, including three Kalashnikov rifles, 15 empty magazines, several rounds of ammunition, three pistols, and a number of mobile phones.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle ISIS cells and prevent further threats to stability in northeastern Syria.
