Unidentified gunmen target SDF positions in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified gunmen launched on Sunday a series of attacks on Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) patrols, outposts, and personnel in the Deir ez-Zor countryside in eastern Syria.
A military source from the SDF told North Press that gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on an SDF military vehicle near the town of al-Suwar in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. The attack caused material damage but no casualties.
The same source added that a separate attack occurred in the town of Ruwayshid, also in northern Deir ez-Zor, where gunmen on a motorcycle used machine guns to target an SDF military post.
The assault led to a brief exchange of fire, but no deaths or injuries were reported.
These incidents come a day after the SDF announced that Islamic State (ISIS) militants had carried out three separate attacks on its forces in the region on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of two fighters and injuries to others.
