Druze call for halt to attacks, media incitement in Syria’s Suwayda
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – The Spiritual Leadership of the Druze community in Syria issued on Sunday a statement calling for an immediate end to the ongoing assault on Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, and the cessation of misleading media campaigns.
The leadership also welcomed the entry of humanitarian aid facilitated by international organizations.
“We welcome all humanitarian assistance reaching the afflicted Suwayda Governorate through international organizations and institutions that extend a helping hand to our people during this difficult time,” the statement read. “We deeply value every sincere effort aimed at saving lives and easing the suffering of civilians.”
The leadership called “clearly and firmly” for an end to the “brutal attack on Suwayda” and demanded a stop to what it described as “misleading media campaigns and the deliberate spread of malicious rumors aimed at inciting violence and hatred.”
The statement stressed that the Druze community holds no animosity toward any religious or ethnic group, declaring: “We have no dispute with anyone on religious or ethnic grounds. Shame and disgrace upon those who seek to sow sedition and hatred in the hearts of our youth.”
