Israeli warplanes strike Damascus for second time
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli fighter jets launched on Wednesday a second airstrike on the General Staff building in Damascus marking the second such attack on the Syrian capital within a single day.
The renewed bombing comes amid growing military escalation in the southern governorate of Suwayda, which has witnessed intensified clashes in recent days.
Residents in Damascus reported hearing successive explosions as Israeli warplanes conducted additional raids across the city.
Earlier in the day, Israeli officials had threatened to step up military operations against Syrian targets, demanding that the Syrian government withdraw its forces from Suwayda.
Meanwhile, U.S. Special Envoy for Syria, Thomas Barrack, condemned the ongoing violence in Suwayda. In a post identical to one issued by the U.S. Embassy in Syria, Barrack stated: “We unequivocally condemn violence against civilians in Suwayda.”
