Syrian family discovers human remains beneath rubble in Syria’s Homs

HOMS, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian family uncovered on Monday human remains while clearing the rubble of their destroyed home in the city of Homs, central Syria.

A local source told North Press that a family in the Deir Baalba neighborhood of Homs found partially buried remains beneath the debris during the removal of rubble from their demolished house.

The source added that this is not the first time human remains have been discovered under rubble, but no investigations are ever launched, and residents are often too afraid to report or talk about such findings.

An administrative official with the local Civil Defense told North Press that “preliminary indications suggest the bones belong to a human being. There is a strong possibility the site could be part of a mass grave or an undocumented individual burial that occurred during years of shelling and siege.

The official added that authorities have been contacted to take the necessary measures, and a temporary cordon was established around the site while awaiting the arrival of forensic experts.

So far, neither the local authorities in Homs nor Syria’s Ministry of Interior have issued any comment regarding the discovery.
