Syrian security forces arrest former regime members in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The General Security forces of the Syrian transitional government launched on Thursday a security operation in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, resulting in the arrest of three former members of the ousted regime.
A security source told North Press that General Security patrols raided the al-Tammou neighborhood in the town of al-Mayadin, where they arrested two members of the former regime’s Fourth Division, Ali al-Shukair and Nours al-Hattab, both originally from al-Mayadin.
The source added that Kalashnikov rifles were found in the possession of the detainees, who had been in hiding for an extended period.
The operation also extended to the town of Abu Kamal, where patrols arrested Abdul Razzaq al-Salem, a former member of the National Defense Forces (NDF), during a raid on his home on the city’s outskirts.
