Syria, Saudi Arabia cooperate in anti-drug operation in Idlib, Aleppo
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday the successful execution of a joint security operation targeting a drug trafficking and distribution network operating in the governorates of Idlib and Aleppo, northwestern Syria.
The operation was carried out in coordination with Saudi authorities.
Brigadier General Khaled Eid, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate at the ministry, stated that the raid was the result of precise intelligence sharing between Syrian and Saudi security services.
“The timing and locations for the raids were carefully selected based on the intelligence gathered,” Eid said.
The operation led to the arrest of several individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking.
Authorities seized over 200,000 captagon pills, which were concealed inside industrial equipment and believed to be prepared for smuggling out of the country.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the detainees have been referred to the competent judiciary for further legal proceedings.
