Unidentified gunmen kill civilian, injure another in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A civilian was killed and another injured on Tuesday evening after being targeted by unidentified gunmen in a town in the east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source said that two masked assailants on a motorcycle opened fire with a machine gun on two young men from the town of Garanij, east of Deir ez-Zor.
The attack resulted in the killing of 31-year-old Jassem al-Kassab and the injury of his cousin, the source told North Press.
The victims were civilians and not affiliated with any political or military group, the source confirmed.
This incident comes just two days after one of the elders of the Akidat tribe was shot and killed by unknown gunmen in the town of Daranj, also in eastern Deir ez-Zor.
