Expert warns of escalating Israeli-Iranian conflict with no red lines
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Israeli-Iranian conflict is rapidly heading toward an open, unconventional war with no clear red lines, an expert in international crisis management said on Monday.
Isaac Andakian told North Press that “There are no red lines in the Israeli-Iranian conflict. Iran insists on its right to fully develop its nuclear program, while Israel remains determined to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear capabilities at any cost.”
The exchange of attacks between Israel and Iran has continued for four consecutive days, resulting in hundreds of casualties and heightening fears of a broader regional escalation.
According to Andakian, the heart of the conflict lies in Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “This war will only end in one of two ways: either Iran succeeds in enriching uranium to the point of producing nuclear weapons, or Israel manages to destroy Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.”
He warned that confronting Iran will not be easy, citing its vast missile arsenal, which could allow it to sustain a prolonged confrontation with Israel.
“The conflict could last for weeks and spiral into a regional war,” Andakian said, noting recent reports suggesting potential Pakistani support for Iran and Chinese arms supplies to Tehran, while the United States increases its military backing for Israel.
The Washington-based expert emphasized that U.S. involvement currently includes military, intelligence, political, and diplomatic support for Israel. However, he said direct U.S. military intervention is unlikely unless Israel faces an existential threat.
He added that the United States has already heightened its military readiness in the region by deploying B-52 bombers, aircraft carriers, and destroyers as a precaution against further escalation.
