Landmine blasts kill one, injure another in Syria’s Homs
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A civilian was killed and another injured on Tuesday due to the explosion of landmines left behind by the war in the eastern countryside of Homs, central Syria.
A local source from Palmyra said that a landmine detonated beneath a motorcycle near the entrance of the city, killing a young man identified as Adnan al-Hassan.
The source added that a second landmine exploded near the “Third Station” in the Palmyra countryside, injuring Youssef al-Deesa, who was transported to Palmyra Hospital for treatment.
The source emphasized that the desert surrounding the town remains heavily contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance, prompting repeated appeals to relevant authorities to clear the area and prevent further casualties.
