Unknown gunmen target SDF forces in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown assailants carried out late on Saturday two separate attacks targeting a patrol and a checkpoint operated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
A military source within the SDF told North Press that unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire with automatic weapons on an SDF checkpoint in the town of al-Sabha in the east of Deir ez-Zor.
The incident led to a brief exchange of fire, resulting in material damage only and no reported casualties.
In a separate attack in the town of al-Namliyah in the north of Deir ez-Zor, armed men ambushed an SDF military vehicle near the main road. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
These latest attacks follow a similar incident on May 19, when one SDF fighter was killed and another injured during an armed assault on a military post in a town east of Deir ez-Zor.
