Landmine blast kills man in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A young man was killed on Wednesday in a landmine explosion—one of many remnants of war—in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
A local source told North Press that Zuhair al-Taleb, 22, lost his life when a landmine exploded near a garbage dump in the Panorama area of Deir ez-Zor.
The source added that Bassam al-Taleb, Zuhair’s father, died shortly afterward from shock-induced cardiac arrest upon hearing the news of his son’s death.
In a separate incident, a woman was injured by a booby-trapped object in the Palmyra countryside in central Syria.
Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, Khadra al-Junaid sustained shrapnel injuries after attempting to remove a booby-trapped object near her home in the town of al-Sukhnah in the Palmyra countryside.
