Kurdish delegation to visit Damascus for talks on unity initiative
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – North Press obtained on Tuesday the names of the members of a Kurdish delegation scheduled to travel to Damascus for talks with the Syrian transitional government and representatives of other communities.
The discussions will focus on the outcomes of the Kurdish Unity Conference held in April in Qamishli, northeastern Syria.
According to a confidential source, the delegation will include Aldar Khalil, Perwin Youssef, and Nasruddin Ibrahim representing the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK).
It will also include Mohammad Ismail, Suleiman Oso, and Faisal Youssef from the Kurdish National Council (ENKS), in addition to Salah Darwish, an independent figure not affiliated with any major political bloc.
The source added that the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, is expected to appoint two additional representatives, bringing the total number of delegates to nine.
The visit to Damascus is expected to take place shortly after the Eid al-Adha holiday.
The Kurdish Unity Conference, held on April 26 in Qamishli under American and French sponsorship, brought together Kurdish parties and figures from Iraqi Kurdistan, Turkey, and Syrian provinces.
The conference produced a political vision that included both national demands related to Syria’s future and specific Kurdish demands for cultural and political rights.
North Press had previously published the political document of the Kurdish Unity Conference ahead of its formal convening.
