Security forces arrest former regime fighters in Deir ez-Zor, Homs

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Syrian General Security forces arrested on Monday four individuals affiliated with the former regime’s military units and the National Defense Forces (NDF) in coordinated raids across central and eastern Syria.

A security source told North Press that a security patrol raided the city of al-Mayadin in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, detaining two NDF members. One of the detainees was identified as Amjad al-Sultan.

In a separate operation in the city of Palmyra in central Syria, security forces stormed a residence harboring two individuals linked to the former regime’s Division 18. Both detainees were originally from Deir ez-Zor.

The source added that automatic weapons and narcotics were found in the possession of the NDF members during the operation.

The arrests come amid ongoing internal crackdowns on pro-regime militias and former military personnel, reflecting increasing tensions within the Syrian government’s security apparatus.
