Official says Syrian government, AANES agree to overcome challenges
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Yasser Suleiman, spokesperson for the delegation of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) negotiating with the Syrian transitional government, stated on Monday that both parties agreed to overcome all obstacles related to the administration of final exams for students at the preparatory and secondary levels.
In remarks to North Press, Suleiman said the first meeting was constructive and served as an introductory session to establish rapport and identify future discussion agendas.
The two delegations addressed the education sector, focusing on enabling students from North and East Syria to sit for their national exams within their own regions.
According to Suleiman, the delegation from Damascus pledged to formally present the matter to the central government, while the AANES committed to providing full logistical support to ensure the process succeeds.
Suleiman noted that both sides discussed the formation of subcommittees to begin implementing the provisions of the agreement reached between Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa and Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The AANES official indicated that additional rounds of dialogue will be announced soon and may be held either in Damascus or in North and East Syria. “It makes no difference,” he said, “because we see Syria as one country for all Syrians.”
He concluded by emphasizing that the outcomes of the meeting were promising and serve the interests of all Syrians, reaffirming that both parties share a unified vision for a single, indivisible Syria.
