ISIS claims deadly attack on Asayish patrol in NE Syria
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Sunday responsibility for an attack targeting a vehicle belonging to the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) on the Raqqa–Hasakah road in northeastern Syria.
On Sunday, the Asayish confirmed the deaths of three of its members and the injury of another following the attack, which occurred near a checkpoint in the Sabah al-Khair area.
In an official statement, the Asayish said that ISIS cells detonated a guided landmine as the patrol passed, resulting in the fatal explosion.
A statement attributed to ISIS, widely circulated on affiliated channels, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the group successfully killed three members and wounded others.
The threat posed by ISIS sleeper cells in northeastern Syria continues, particularly in areas where the group has carried out similar attacks in recent months.
