Two landmine blasts kill man, 3 children in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Four people, including three children, were killed on Sunday in two separate landmine explosions in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source from the town of al-Merei’iyah told North Press that three children from the al-Judai’ family, aged between 9 and 11, lost their lives when a landmine—left behind from previous conflicts—exploded while they were playing near the home of their uncle, Suleiman al-Judai’.
According to the source, the children had discovered the landmine and, unaware of its danger, attempted to move it. The mine detonated instantly, killing them on the spot.
In a separate incident in the nearby town of al-Dwair, 26-year-old Fadi al-Mansour was killed when a landmine exploded beneath his motorcycle as he passed through a desert area near the town.
