Government security forces discover two weapons depots in Syrian Desert

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security forces of the Syrian transitional government uncovered on Saturday two weapons and ammunition depots previously used by the Assad regime in the Syrian Desert.

A security source told North Press that security units discovered a weapons cache near the al-Heri desert along the Syrian-Iraqi border. The depot contained moderate quantities of light and medium weaponry, along with various types of ammunition.

In a separate operation, a patrol in the town of al-Sukhnah in the Palmyra desert found another weapons depot buried near a former government building.

The discovery was made following a tip-off from local residents. The depot also contained weapons and ammunition, the source noted.

Both stockpiles have since been transferred to Internal Security headquarters for further investigation and secure storage, the source added.
