SDF captures ISIS members in Deir ez-Zor during operation with Coalition

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday that, in coordination with the U.S.-led Global Coalition, they had captured several members of Islamic State (ISIS) cells during a targeted security operation in eastern Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

The SDF said that its commando units, supported by the Global Coalition forces, captured a number of ISIS terrorists in the town of al-Busayrah in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The statement noted that the operation followed careful monitoring of the terrorist cell’s movements, adding that further details will be shared at a later stage.

The SDF reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to the joint mission with the Coalition to fully eradicate ISIS and restore lasting security and stability across Syria.

On May 27, the SDF announced the killing of an ISIS operative who was attempting to plant a landmine on the road leading to the city of Hajin, also in eastern Deir ez-Zor.
