Israeli airstrikes hit locations on Syrian coast, killing civilian

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli warplanes launched on Friday evening airstrikes on three locations in the rural areas of Latakia and Tartus, resulting in the death of one civilian and injuries to three others.

The strikes occurred despite recent direct talks between Israeli and Syrian officials aimed at reducing tensions and preventing further escalation.

Shortly after the attack, the Israeli military stated that it had targeted weapons storage facilities in Latakia containing missiles that pose a threat to both international and Israeli maritime navigation.

Syria’s state-run news agency SANA confirmed the airstrikes, reporting that a civilian was killed and three others were injured, and noted that the raid specifically targeted the vicinity of the port of Tartus.

Israel has conducted airstrikes in Syria for years, primarily aimed at weakening Iran-linked military infrastructure. These operations have intensified since the onset of the war in Gaza, although strikes had decreased in recent weeks amid efforts to open diplomatic channels.
