Syrian security forces launch raids in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – General Security forces of the Syrian transitional government carried out on Wednesday evening a series of sweep and raid operations targeting individuals wanted on various charges in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A security source told North Press that General Security units launched a raid in the town of Abu Kamal, arresting four individuals wanted on multiple charges, including drug trafficking.

The source added that patrols also conducted raids in the towns of al-Dwair, al-Abbas, and the outskirts of al-Asharah. Among those arrested were a former member of Iranian-backed militias, a known drug trafficker, and an arms dealer.

According to the source, security forces seized a quantity of weapons, narcotics, and hashish during the operations. He noted that the campaign will continue until all wanted individuals are apprehended.
