SDF forces kill ISIS member planting landmine in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Tuesday the killing of an Islamic State (ISIS) cell member as he attempted to plant a landmine along the road leading to the city of Hajin in Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria.

In a statement, the SDF said that while conducting routine patrols to secure the area and ensure residents’ safety, SDF forces observed suspicious movements by a two-member terrorist cell.

One member opened fire after being surrounded, prompting a response that resulted in his death.

The second individual reportedly fled into nearby civilian farmland and is currently being pursued.

The SDF also noted that its forces had engaged in clashes with another ISIS cell in the town of Susah, also in eastern Deir ez-Zor. The cell members managed to escape the area.

Earlier, the SDF had foiled an attempted attack by ISIS cells on a military post in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.
