DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated on Monday that Israel is open to establishing “good relations” with Syria’s new leadership.
Since the fall of the previous Syrian regime, Israel has launched multiple strikes inside Syrian territory, heavily targeting and destroying much of the Syrian army’s military infrastructure.
Sa’ar’s comments came during a meeting with his German counterpart, Johann Vodboll, in Tel Aviv on Sunday.
“We naturally have security concerns, which are understandable,” Sa’ar said. “But we seek stability and have reasons to remain cautious about the current regime, especially regarding its approach toward minority groups.”
German Foreign Minister Vodboll expressed concern over ongoing Israeli military operations in Syria.
“It is vital that Syria be allowed to shape its political identity without external interference,” Vodboll said. “Ensuring the protection of all communities within Syrian society must be a top priority for the new government.”
