Trump, Erdoğan discuss regional issues including Syria in “productive” call
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – U.S. President Donald Trump held on Monday a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during which they discussed several pressing regional and international issues, including the situation in Syria.
Trump described the conversation as “very good and productive,” noting that the leaders touched on a range of topics from the ongoing war in Gaza to efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“I just had a very good and productive telephone conversation with the President of Turkey, Recep Erdoğan, concerning many subjects, including the War with Russia/Ukraine, all things Syria, Gaza, and more,” Trump wrote on his TRUTH Social platform.
Relations between Washington and Ankara have been strained over the past decade due to key political disagreements, particularly regarding Syria and Turkey’s growing ties with Moscow.
Trump revealed that Erdoğan had extended an invitation for him to visit Turkey at a future date. He also mentioned that Erdoğan is expected to visit Washington, though no specific date was announced.
