Syrian authorities confirm casualties in Druze city clashes

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Interior issued on Tuesday a statement regarding the deadly clashes that erupted at dawn in the predominantly Druze city of Jaramana in the Damascus countryside.

The Ministry confirmed that the violence resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, including among security personnel.

Earlier, a government source told North Press that three members of the General Security forces were killed and others injured during the clashes.

According to a statement from the Ministry’s media office, “The Jaramana area witnessed sporadic clashes between armed groups, some originating from outside the city and others from within. These confrontations led to casualties, both dead and wounded.”

The Ministry added that General Security units, supported by forces from the Ministry of Defense, intervened to end the fighting and restore calm. A security cordon was established around the area to prevent further incidents.

Investigations are underway to determine the identity of the individual behind an audio recording containing insults against the Prophet, which is believed to have incited tensions, the ministry said.

“We will not tolerate anyone who contributed to inciting unrest or threatening public stability.”

At dawn, five people were killed and at least 12 others injured during the violence that broke out in the vicinity of Jaramana.
