Unknown gunmen kill civilian in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified gunmen killed on Monday a civilian in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source told North Press that the attackers, riding a motorcycle, targeted Thaer al-Matar with a silenced pistol in the town of al-Dahla town.
According to the source, al-Matar died instantly, and the gunmen fled the scene.
The source confirmed that al-Matar was a civilian with no affiliation to any political or military group.
Earlier the same day, the Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for an armed attack on Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters in western Deir ez-Zor.
The attack left five SDF fighters dead and three others injured when their vehicle came under fire from unknown gunmen in Jazrat al-Buhamid, in Deir ez-Zor countryside.
